I am Marcela's knitting frenzy.

Ok, so it's not so much a frenzy as it is a ... rediscovered hobby that, as of late, I am very enthusiastic about. When I was seven, my cousin's grandmother taught me how to knit and gave me my first set of knitting needles (they were plastic ... so the chances of me using them as a weapon were only slightly lessened). I think the first thing I knit was a purse. As of this moment, I have no clue where the aforementioned articles (needles and purse) may be ... but about a month ago I went to Wal*Mart and picked up 3 different sized needles, a crochet hook (it helps in picking up dropped stitches), and 4 skeins of acrylic yarn (I've come to find out through research that it's the crappy cheap stuff) in burgundy, cream, black, and navy. I took my supplies down south during Thanksgiving and on the first night down there (Wednesday) I knit a cream-colored belt for my sister. She loved it! If you knew my sister, you'd understand how freakishly odd it is of her to a) like something that was hand-made and didn't have a designer label on it and more importantly b) like something that was hand-made by ME. So I was practically gushing when she told me that she'd wear it to Thanksgiving lunch/dinner (our dining schedules are weird) the next day. On Thursday, my cousin came rushing up to me and said "I LOVE Daniela's belt! You have to make me one." So I did, I spent that day knitting her a belt (in between the feedings and copious amounts of television) and I finished it before she had to leave. As a gift in return, she gave me two long lengths of hemp, because I'd seen her working a necklace earlier that day and I told her about how I remembered working that same stitch (the cobra) on lanyard at summer camp. So now I have a cute hemp bracelet. The next day, I ended up knitting myself a black belt ... I've yet to wear it.

...

My current project is a beanie-type hat for Neutron b/c he shaved his head completely. My next project is a kimono-inspired sweater that I found on knitty.com. It may have to be put on hold for a while due to the fact that the yarn I need is usually $4.25 - $4.75/skein and I need about 10-11 skeins to make it ... plus I'm having a hard time trying to find a brick and mortar store that sells it in the colors that I need (I supppose I could order it online ... but then I'd be paying for shipping TOO). It's funny b/c most people make their own clothes to save money ... but I already have a nice sweater and it only cost my mom about $30.

...

Bah, I'd promised a friend AND Neutron that my next (this) entry would be a rant about all things goth. Oh well, maybe next time.
